I prefer Mass Effect. The story is engrossing, the graphics are beautiful, character customization is expansive, fighting is tight, I could go on and on about how awesome this particular game is. Deus Ex 2 is a bit closer to a FPS with some RPG Elements and some character customization. It's also got a pretty complicated story and playing the first one really helps to get an idea of the story.



Mass Effect has a lost more RPG elements such as stat building, classes and persuasion, but it plays like a third person shooter.



Regardless both are excellent games.
Mass Effect is by far the better game in all aspects, and it's RPG elements are great. Character customization ( as in like skills you want to develop and a good-type or rebel-type ) and a gripping story are both strong points of this game. I would strongly recommend Mass Effect to any gamer, especially a lover of RPGs.
